Settings must have at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and be available at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings. From 1 September 2016, there is a requirement in the EYFS for newly qualified early years staff (with full and relevant level 2 or level 3 childcare qualification) to also hold a current Paediatric First Aid (PFA) or emergency PFA certificate in order to be included in the required staff: child ratios in an early years setting. Childcare practitioners will be allowed a three month ‘grace’ period to complete PFA training after starting work with a new employer.
This course meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and is suitable for those working with children from birth to 12 years old.
