This essential course covers an understanding of what equalities means in everyday work in childcare settings and will cover:
developing an understanding of the importance of equalities
identifying strengths in equalities practice
sharing top tips and information about resources
identifying difficulties and areas to develop in equalities practice and explore ways to improve and extend practice
developing an understanding of discrimination and skills and techniques to challenge it
looking at the use of language and current terminology
exploring ideas for play activities that acknowledge and promoting an understanding of diversity and affirming each child's identity offering initial support for developing an equal opportunities policy.
This course provides an introduction to the Prevent Duty and how it is relevent to Early Years and Childcare settings. It also explains what is meant by British Values. All practitioners working in early years settings in Brighton & Hove are welcome to attend and safeguarding leads may find the course particularly useful.
