The course will help practitioners to distinguish between children who are new to English and those with needs beyond bilingualism who need referrals to SALT and BHISS etc.
There will also be input from the BHISS team
There are children of refugee families in settings in Brighton and Hove. They may be born here or newly arrived. Families may not readily disclose they are from a refugee background but if settings have knowledge of world events and communities, and an understanding of the specific experiences of refugee families they will be better placed to meet children’s individual needs.

This course provides an introduction to the Prevent Duty and how it is relevent to Early Years and Childcare settings. It also explains what is meant by British Values.
